Each project is well thought out and scoped properly from
the begining. Below is an example of project milestones that
have weathered the test of time. The points below outline
the general process that will be followed for the implementation
of the K3 solution.
1. Define the scope of project: This will require meetings
both over the phone and in person with business users. In
addition to mapping pricing processes to the K3 solution,
we will investigate the existing applications (quoting, order
management) that need to be integrated and reports that need
to be generated from the system.
2. Initial implementation of applications: Once all product
and price information is compiled, it will be entered into
the K3 solution and made available over the Internet for review.
3. Review application: The business user team will review
and provide feedback on the initial implementation. All issues
identified will be addressed in the application and reviewed
again by the business user team through an iterative process,
until the K3 solution is deemed ready for deployment.
4. Installation of the K3 Suite: The K3 suite will be physically
installed on K3 servers and made available for use over the
Internet. Depending on how the integration to existing systems
is carried out, the K3 suite may have to be moved from K3
servers to companies local servers at a later point in time.
5. Integration into existing systems: Once the application
is deployed, it can be integrated into the existing systems
based on the scope of work defined in step 1.
6. Training users: At this time, the users will need to be
trained. Depending on the location of the users, they can
be trained in a single location or through WebEx over the
Internet.
The expected timeframe for steps 1 - 4 is a few months. Step
6 will take between 2 and 3 days. The timeframe for step 5
is dependent on the amount of integration work required, but
based on experience this typically takes a few weeks..
